Halloween is almost here! Your favorite magazines are probably filled with lots of great ideas right now. Here are several unique Halloween decorating ideas that are easy and budget friendly. You can choose a specific theme to decorate around, such as Gothic or Nightmare Before Christmas, or just use Halloween touches throughout your space. A few pumpkins on the porch and some spiderwebs in the living room are an easy, cost effective way to set the right mood

The Gothic Look – A Gothic look is easily achieved with a few simple pieces such as a black tablecloth, old candelabra with wax drippings, and a stuff black raven perched here and there on artwork and hung mirrors. Look to Martha Stewart Halloween magazines for more ideas on decorating in a Gothic style. You can pick up lots of items at a thrift store that will enhance your theme. Look for black sheets, candelabras, and other items that inspire you.

Spooky Graveyard – For a great entrance, create a spooky graveyard scene to greet your guests as they arrive. a fog machine, coffin and headstones are all you need to create a very spooky scene. Headstones can be made with some Styrofoam available at craft stores, and grey spray paint for the headstone, black paint for the lettering. Having a stuffed body or ghost from a tree limb will add to the scary effect.

Thrift Store Delights – Your local thrift store is a great place for finding Halloween bargins. Spray paint candelabras for a spooky look, and black sheets are great to drape over furniture. Thrift stores often have a display of Halloween costumes, props and decorations during October. If you are short on storage space, just donate everything back to the thrift store after Halloween!

Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas – The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite themes for Halloween. If you feel the characters are too limited, you could expand the concept and encourage your guests to come as their favorite Disney character. This concept is perfect for couples as there are many famous Disney couples to portray. Mickey & Minnie Mouse Costume, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, and of course Jack Skellington and Sally.

Use these ideas to spark your own imagination. Most important of all, get your costume in time for your party. You can order a Mouse Costume, Minnie Mouse Costume or choose from thousands of other costumes and party supplies online, but do it soon. Halloween will be here before you know it!
